6 yrs expiring and PERM not approved yet

My H1B (6yrs) is expiring Sep 2010. PERM has been filed and is over 365 days old and has not been approved yet.

1. Can the employer file for H1b extension ?
2. Can I switch to H4 based on my wife's H1 after the 6yrs is completed ?

1. Yes your employer could file for H1 extension since your labor certification has been applied more than 365 days ago.
2. You could switch to H4 if you wish.
