6+yr; H1B/H4B extension(3yr or 1yr) & Employer change

Friends,

My 6th year is ending in May2006. I have I140 approved & I485 Pending, my spouse is on H4 & her I485 is yet to be filed.

I need to know when is safe time to file for my H1B extension & spouse H4B, like 6months/4 months before ending for 6th year?

Am I eligible for 3Yr extension instead of only 1yr?

If I get H1B extension with my current employer & change the job in next 3-4 months does the new employer also need to file for an extension or will it just be an H1 transfer in that case?

By I 485 pending, do you mean you could not file it because of lack of available visa numbers? If so, you can file for your H1 B extension about 90 days prior to the expiry provided you are not going to be out of the country during this period. If you plan to be out, it is better to come back from your trip and then apply for the extension...within the limit of course.
