540 days? How accurate is that?

I've just received the receipt for my N-400 for Chicago from the Nebraska center and they say I should expect to hear within 540 days of the notice.

Does anybody have any figures to put my mind as ease?

The lawyer was suggesting around six months for processing.
 
Is the USCIS finally coming out of the closet? :confused:

Anyway, i think the 540 days estimate is a bit far fetched.Did you check the timeline on the uscis website?
 
USCIS web site shows that in Chicago they process now n400 applications that were submitted before Mar 3, 2004. I think you lawyer is right and 6 months sounds much more reasonable than 540 days...

I concur with Joef's response. My receipt said 540 days as well (TSC), and I completed the whole N-400 process in 300 days. Good Luck.

don't be worried. Chicago is fast. My friend submitted his N-400 application at the end of Jan 2004. He is taking his Oath tomorrow.(July 27th).
It is about six months.
