5 Years to Become Citizen

Hi,

I was wondering if you have to wait strictly 5 years after becomig a permanent resident in order to become a citizen.

Are there any laws that would reduce that time, such as factoring in the years you had an EAD working and paying taxes? Or anything at all?

depending on how long you stayed out of US.
