485 stuck in name check

I filed thru my USC wife. EAD/I-131/130 got approved. Had my intereview in Dec, 05. Everything went great, but she said, I have name check pending.

Went again by Infopass in April, 06. Same status - name check pending.

Now, the thing is, I am going to India to do my MBA (IIM-Ahmedabad). SO I will be there for 2 years.

Q1. So, should I file a change of address? Or should I let the mails come to my current address (my wife will be there)?

Q2. Should I file for Renewal EAD/New Travel permit, or should I wait till I complete my MBA in India and then file it?

Any help will be immensely appreciated,

It is my understanding that in order for you to stay outside the US for more than 12 months you need to have some kind of permission/document from the USCIS and once you return you will have to substantiate that you did not intend to abandon your resident status over here etc. Anyways leaving for such a long period of time doesn't sound to be a very good idea to me. Anyways, I am not an expert on this issue maybe somone else could help you in more detail and accurate inofmration.
 
Since you are still in pending AOS your travel document -Advance Parole- that is need to travel and be able to re-enter the US is just for short trips (less than 6 months or so is suppose that is a short trip), not for long period of time. Advance Parole are valid for one year, does not mean that is wise to stay an entire year outside the US while your AOS is pending.

The only travel document that allows you to stay outside the US for a period of time longer than a year is the Re-Entry Permit and that is only for Permanent Residents if they going to be outside the US more than a year but less than 2 years.
