485 status after 2FP and RFE

My RD is October 2002. I got my 2nd FP notice and completed last month and was happy and when I recieved my RFE for papers I was even happier thinking my case is moving. But now when I check the status it shows the following which is pretty disappointing.Is this 700+ days normal or have I gone into the bottom of the stack ?

What is the message if you just applied for 485 ?

On May 18, 2004, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. It is taking between 730 and 730 days for us to process this kind of case. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case.

It's normal. Don't worry about the numbers. That's the maximum timeframe for AOS. EB based AOS without too much complication hardly goes that long (wtihout considering the massive backlog).

"The remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message". It is reliable and in most cases it is true.
