Hello,
I got RFE about missing medicals for my 485. I wanted to understand what happens after my medicals are done and submitted.
Will INS send an approval notice after medicals are submitted ?
Do I get my passport stamped ? What is that stamping called ?
Does everyone has to appear for an interview after 485 approval but before passport stamping ? Do you need your lawyer for the interview ?
Can you travel outside USA before getting actual plastic card ?
My labour was resubstituted . I am not using the skill set mentioned there for a long time . will there be any questions regd. that ?

Thanks,

Labour resubstitution
140/485 concurrent filing June'2003
140 approved - Feb'04
485 Medical RFE - 12-Nov-2004
2nd. EAD/AP approved - Oct-2004

Do you mean you didn't attach your medical documents with your 485 app at all, or they want more medical info?

My lawyer advised me not to do medical , as she thought it would expire in 1 year . So yes, I had not done any medicals at all.

You will need to send in your medical records. Your lawyer does need to attend with you for an interview. I do not think interview is a norm for everyone.

No medicals do not expire in one year. Your lawyer is wrong.

One has to submit his 485 along with Medicals that has taken before submitting his application or medicals that was taken within a year before submission. I dont think anyone is being asked to do 2nd Medicals.

Due to the continuing backlog of some adjustment of status applications, the
validity of the civil surgeon’s endorsement on Form I-693, when filed concurrently with Form I-485, is extended until the adjustment application is adjudicated, if no Class A or Class B medical condition is certified. This policy is in effect until January 1, 2005.

You are right. Medicals dont expire in 1 year. Apparently my lawyer was not aware.

So getting called for an interview is not normal. Do you know what is the reason for getting a call ?

... There are many reasons. Serach for it on this forum and you will find list of them. To name a few:
1) Service center is not able to verify or convinced with documents.
2) Out of status issues
3) Employement verification
etc.

... It depends on the case. If there are no other outstanding issues with your petition, they will approve it. They don't have time & resource to meet each and every petitioner.

... Once your petition is approved, you will be getting letter from USCIS. You need to take that letter to the local service center for passport stamping. Just follow that letter except photo standards.

Can you travel outside USA before getting actual plastic card ?
... It's not advisable to do from your approval till you get passport stamped. Except that period, you can travel provided you have AP/H1/L1 or I-551 stamp/Greencard.

... Don't worry, USCIS is not going to take your technical interview. Get a new letter from employer with skill set mentioned in LC.
