485 RFE received, but

TSC issued an RFE on 02/18/04 for my 485 and the on line message did change to indicate an RFE was sent. Then on 03/01/04, the message changed to say

On March 01, 2004 the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued.

After this change of message, the company lawyer called HR and told them that my GC was approved.
Today I received the RFE. It was mailed directly to me even though the letter is addressed to the company lawyer.
What do I do with this? Am I approved or not? I will definitely be calling the lawyer tomorrow.

Check with your lawyer. You never know with TSC they might just have decided to approve your case even though they issued an RFE.

1 There must be something on the basis of which the lawyer said you were approved

2 If not reply to the RFE and you wll be approved soon. Whats the RFE about ?

I agree. After posting here, I looked at the RFE again and now I see that it was originally sent to the lawyer, but USCIS had the address wrong and it was returned by USPS. The message was probably changed as a result of resending the RFE.

The RFE is to request evidence related to the fact that I checked "yes" in response to the question "Have you ever been arrested, etc." on the 485 application.
I submitted this evidence to the lawyer back in 2001 along with my 485, so I don't understand why USCIS is asking for it.
I'm not worried about this RFE because I have never had a criminal record or a conviction. I will resubmitt the same evidence and trust that it is adequate.
