485 RFE for non-immigrant status

Hi,
I received a strange RFE on my 485 application - it asks me to provide the proof that I maintained the non-immigrant status. but what's strange about this is - its for about a period of exactly nine(9) months before I first entered the US. And to my knowledge there was no other H1/L1 or any other visa that was ever applied on my name for that period.
I have all the documents to prove my status since I entered the US.

Has anybody ever encountered this?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Explain that you were not yet in the US during that time frame and your first entry to the US was on [whatever the date was]. Not sure how you would prove that, though. I guess you could send a copy of the first visa you got, along with a copy of pages from your passport including the pages with your name and picture and the page with the stamp of your first entry.

I think i'll be able to provide a copy of all the things you mentioned, and perhaps the 797 form too.
