Gurus,

I have a quick question. My wife's 485 shows the following on the USCIS status website :

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Fingerprint fee rejected and notice mailed; case in suspense.

On September 20, 2007, we rejected your fingerprint fee and mailed you instructions for how to submit the necessary payment. This case is now in suspense. Please submit your payment with our notice as soon as possible after you receive our notice so we may resume processing of this case.

Can anyone please advice ? Did the lawyer screw up somewhere ? Any responses would appreciated !

Talk to the lawyer. If you know you sent the right fees, either your lawyer or USCIS screwed up. Either way, you have to respond to USCIS urgently or they will reject the case and your wife will be unable to reapply until your priority date is current again.

How long ?

How long does my lawyer have to contact USCIS ? The note from USCIS says they received my case on Sept 20. Do I have like about thirty days ? Should the lawyer give them a call or send in additional papers. My lawyer is so non-responsive.

The new fees went into effect on 8/17 per the lawyer.
So I think the lawyer sent in the right fees. Because my 485 went thru just fine.
