Gurus,

Can someone please answer how these situations are actually handled.

At preset, my GC is being processed from CSC. But I always have stayed in the Chicago Area. My employer is a California based company. Now I have aplied for my 485 and am waiting and watching, like many others.

Here is my question :

Assuming, I am not moving out of Chicago anytime soon and also assuming that I get lucky,
1. Will my case be moved from CSC to the local Chicago Office ?

2. I have applied my 485(through labor sub) in march of 2004. The chicago local district Office processing dates are shown as oct 2, 2002. Does that mean, one has to wait another 2 years for local offices dates to get current ?

3. Also, Is there a possibility that this case might be moved to some other local offfice in CA based on my employer location, which is from California

Thanks a lot in Advance and Good luck to all.

Anyone has any idea about this. I would really appreciate an answer to the questions.

Good luck to all

1) I have seen cases get approved in CSC, even though the person does not live in the CSC area. This happened to a personal friend of mine. If USCIS decides to call you for an interview for any reason (not necessarily just because you don't live in the CSC area), then you're interview would be in the office closest to where you live, in this case Chicago.

2) According to my 2 lawyers, the CSR and her supervisor at the local office, and the director at the local office (via my lawyer): The dates posted on the web site are not for EB I-485 cases. They are only for Family based cases, since the local offices process very few EB cases, and thus do not even post a processing date for them. There is no way to officially know how long a case would sit at a local office. The best way I know of is to visit this forum, and ask others who are waiting, or who have waited at the same local office for an interview.

3) Anything is possible, but this would probably be an error on USCIS's part, and would be a very rare scenario. Some people on this forum have had their cases transferred to local offices other than the local office nearest to them, and are still waiting to get the transfer corrected ("saras76" comes to mind). Others have had their case eventually moved to the office nearest them.
