485 petitions by both wife and husband

We have I-140 approvals from me and my wife, we both filed independently.
Now can we inlcude each other names in 485 petitions but asking intermediate benefits only through my petition?
Anyone who has done like this in the past? Please shed some light on pros and cos. We really appreciate.

did you ask your lawyer?

and the opinion there is mixed. Some lawyers have said you can file 2 I-485s (primary on one application, secondary on the other); others say that you can have only one I-485 pending and you need to pick which one.
