Hi friends,

Is it advisable to prepare the I485 petition/EAD/AP and all paperwork myself and file it with I140 receipt. The lawyer is charging a lot - abt. 2.5k and more.

It is a substitution labor I-140 filed a few days back.

You might not need an attorney after filing 485 (90% EB cases are like that after 140 approval), but you never know.

Many have done it alone.
Evaluate yourself. Check how complex your case is. Try to answer these questions.
[1] Were you out of status any time?
[2] Will your employer support your 140 (meaning will he reply to / provide vital information required for replying to any queries or RFEs from U&SCIS)
[3] Do you have access to all the documents, if you have see if your qualification and experience match exactly yo that of the approved LC.
[4] Is there a chance of you getting laid off before the approval of 140?

If you are confident with these questions, then you can file 485 on your own.

hunt around for a good lawyer, you might get a less expensive one. Also there are paralegals who might render their service for much less than the one you quoted.

These are just my views and discretion is advised.
