485 filing, why send extra documents???

***3 year tax returns and W2s
***form 134 or something

I was going through the official requirement and they dont need any of the above...

they just need copy of the page containing non-immigrant visa from the passport....

do we need to send extra information???

this is not a do or die question, hence we dont need to sweat a lot.....extra information can be thrown away but if we dont send and they want it they will issue an RFE....which will delay the case...

but on other side will they not request all documents they think is important.....i mean do they have time to go through all the pages of our passport.......i am sure they dont trust anything unless it has got some reference to their system...

please comment??

I think most of the time it's the lawyers playing it safe and sending in more docs than are needed, based on their previous experience of RFEs.

So you gonna send your tax returns or not? I was also thinking about it and with the taxes and the full passport(I have 2!) the package becomes too bulky.

BTW...this was the list my lawyer had sent me earlier...
1. A copy of all of the pages of the Passport (valid for 6 months or longer);
2. Copy of recent I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, front and back;
3. Copy of all Approval Notices (i.e., H-1, H-4, L-1, L-2 and etc…) from first entry to the U.S.;
4. Copy of I-20 (s), student visa, if applicable;
5. Copy of Employment Authorization Document (i.e., from practical training while on F-1 status or L-2 status), if applicable;
6. Birth Certificate or two Affidavits of Birth along with a non-availability certificate; and
7. Marriage Certificate if applicable.
8. Medical from an INS approved doctor (http://uscis.gov/graphics/exec/cs/index.asp) in a sealed envelope;
9. 6 photos each

my university is making me fill 864 (i know its none of their business....but want to keep the relationship cozy for a while)......and it wont hurt...because 864 is better than 134 since its more detailed...

yes i will be sending tax and w2 for 3 years...

plus all pages of passport.....
