FYI:
One of my friend\'s got an intent to deny notice a couple of months back, because INS was claiming that they haven\'t received the $25 fee for the fingerprinting. His lawyer didn\'t send the fee when she sent the I-485, but latter she realised the mistake and did send the money. INS encashed the check, but didn\'t update their records. Eventually (after two months of agony) he got the approval though....

It happened to my brother\'s application. For him and his wife. INS rejected their I-485 application because they did not receive a response from my brother for a query within a specified amount of time. Apparently, my brother had sent the response by fedex on time and INS has signed for this fedex one day before the deadline. My brother took a print out of who signed it from Fedex web tracking system and talked to one of the INS officers and they reopened the case. The letter that INS sent said "Your I-485 has been denied because your response did not arrive on time".
