Folks,
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that mine and wife's I-485 was approved today. Details are given below:
RIR LC Filed: 7/23/2001
LC approved after several RFEs: 9/30/2003
140/485/EAD joing filing RD/ND: 11/13/2003 / 11/21/2003
EAD AP: 3/24/2004
140 AP: 8/17/2004
My FP1: 10/23/2004
Wife's FP1: 11/9/2004
485 AD (Wife and I): November 17, 2004
Its been a long arduous and painful wait. I think the FPs are triggering the 485 approval, I mean my wife's FP was done just last week. I just hope that the approval is REAL. The fact that both wife and I were done on the same day hopefully means it is REAL. I had checked earlier today morning and there was no approval. Just the “FP received and processing resumed” message. Same message for my wife was posted yesterday itself, after her FP1 last week. For some reason I re-checked in the afternoon and mine was approved. Wife’s wasn’t. I emailed lawyer and she emailed back saying wife’s was also approved. I re-checked and confirmed. So they must have had our files open and approved one after the other. I still think the FPs triggered the approvals. Or is it because I am a UK national... who knows.. whatever it is hopefully we’re done. I’ve heard stories here that someone had approval and then the msg. went back to FP recd.. processing resumed. I hope ours isn’t a goof-up. The fact that both of us were approved makes me feel somewhat comfortable but I’ll hold my horses until we see the notice of action.
Lawyer told us to get infopass appt. While we wait for the notice of action since appt. Takes 2 weeks ? And I logged there only to find out no more appts. Whats the deal here ? Do I simply keep on logging in there ? When’s the best time to do so ? Also, how long on average does it take for the Plastic Cards to arrive after Passport Stamping ? By the way folks, is it the same place in Newark where we did the FP that we go for the Stamping ? i.e. Commerce St. ?
All I can think of now is painfree travel, may be a cruise. I remember those endless Visas, stamping in Ottawa, EAD, AP ! Endless. The worst was what happens if I lost my job.. will I have to pack up everything and leave.

I hope I don’t see the “FP recd, processing resumed” message tomorrow. It’ll be such a shame. Hey, the “Archana” we did today will be for nothing !
