485 approved for primary, not for dependent

I am the primary applicant, just got the approval email this morning for myself. What could be the reason that is holding my wife up? Can they approve the primary applicant while the dependant's name check is still pending? or it's just a matter of time and the way INS works? Should I talk to INS to find out?

any help will be appreciated.
 
First of All Congratulations :)

One quick question , How did you respond regarding the RFE of legal status for you and your wife.

Do they want legal status at the time of issuing RFE or at the time of Filing I 485 application.

Your response is appreciated.
 
you could wait and watch. there are plenty more people in the same boat (me for example :( Calling INS doesnt really help.

Good news. My wife's 485 was approved today (9/9/05), one day later after mine. I hope the plastic arrives soon.
