....485 approval delays....

Guys,

I was talking with old-timers that processed their GC 8 years back. During those days you would get your your approval within 4-5 months max. Agreed that the number of applications were also less but the people who procesed the apps were also few in number. Now the same thing applies at this current time.

The number of applications have increased and also the processing officers. I think its a decision from above or their higher ups to delay the processing to the maximum extent.

During this course, at this current juncture, many people would file AC21 or AR11 thus resulting in transfers which would further delay their process, many people drop out some return back, thus accomplishing the wishes of the higher ups.

The local office transfers is no big deal just a personal verification and its only a matter of a few hours to verify and stamp the passport. But it if you call up any of the NJ or NY local officers the wait period is months and their standard excuse is that they are very busy so busy that it spans across months or sometimes years.

Thus today we see the tickle of cases and mass transfers and RFES.

I agree , we are mired in the bureaucracy !!

On a similar note .. do you guys think the I-485 processing has picked up since Oct 1 , 2003 ? Or is it the same snail's pace as last year ?

Maverick;

There is a popular saying in Punjabi language and it means that "If I couldn't get married, then I don't care if some time period was auspicious for marriages". On the same note, while I'm waiting for my GC approval, I don't care if NSC is going fast or slow. The only fact is that I haven't got my GC as yet.

Thanks

There's an old adage that goes ... "You can't tell where you're going unless you know where you've been". After all, if you don't know where you are, how can you figure out which way to go, much less find your way home?

thukralrk , I feel your pain and I would be equally (if not more) frustrated if I were in your shoes. I just wanted to know , how much longer do I have to wait (RD 9/02) ? Personally, I don't feel that the processing times have significantly increased since Oct '03 , which is a very gloomy picture :(

I was hoping someone here can prove otherwise !!

They Were Better But Now They Aren't

Here is my latest analysis of the data in Rupnet.

From Oct - Dec 03 it seemed that NSC had increased their pace. We were seeing in excess of 15 new cases (approved or 1st RFE) per week updated. Since Christmas less than 10 new cases have been updated per week on Rupnet.

The other change we can see is that up to October, they seemed to be working cases in a fairly orderly manner, finish one month (approval or RFE), then move on to the next month. Since then they seem to be trying to work 3 months at a time (Jan, Feb Mar or Feb, Mar, Apr). Now we are seeing more activity on Apr cases, than Feb or Mar. Why they are doing this I have no idea.

Jan/Feb and Mar cases rfes or approvals

have drastically slowed down. The greenland script I ran for those months have up to any significant activity until the first week of Jan. Seems like now they are going back to old rfe'ed case from June to Nov.
