485 and EAD

My friend told me that if I file 485 and have the receipt for the
485 filing in hand, I can walk to local INS office to get
a EAD. Is this true???

I havent heard about it.
Generally there is a filing fee for EAD application and there is some
backlog in the processing also. I cant say if your fried was correct or not.
