485 - what a magical number
Not only is 485 the next step in our immigration application process, it is also the number of days immmigration service is estimating as the approval time for our 140 applications.

485 must be a special number for USCIS for using it in two places. Hopefully they wont use 765 days (765 is also the employment authorization application)

I can understand your frustation !!!!

I always wonder how come BCIS takes such a long time to approve these cases. I can understand the time they may take to evaluate a labor application as it involves more than a few check list points to satisfy immigration needs. But if you look at the time BCIS takes to approve I140 - it is insane !!!! All they need to do is evaluate the financial strength of an employer and make sure the applicant will be supported by the company.

Now, if you look at the Adjustment of Status stage, I am not clear why they take years to approve. If they have approved the applicant's labor certification, and I140 ( & also made sure that the employer is financially stable) then what else is left to grant a GC ? If one think's logically it does'nt make any justification for this wait period. But still we keep our hopes alive and see off every single day with frustation.
