4 months After Response to I 485 RFE

Hi All,
Me and my wife both got RFE for the I485

-Mine was secondary evidence of Birth and Employement Letter

For my wife it was -
Employement Authorization

It has been 4 months now nothing is happening
This is what my attorney is saying
"--they may be waiting on background checks to come through, particularly if your name is common"

Can anyone help us as we are getting very worried.

My question is is it common to have a wait of 4+ months to get response for the RFE and
--they may be waiting on background checks to come through, particularly if your name is common

What does this mean we already had 2 times our fingerprints done

If you visit the USCIS processing times webpage, they have a note saying that if you have replied to RFE and it has been more than 60 days, then you can call them and initiate an inquiry.
At this time that is the only thing you can do
Also contact FBI to request the status of your name check

I laready called the USCIS CS like 4-5 times they are not giving me any info
Can you please guide me how to get the FBI name check info

check other threads for fbi email. send them an email with your case # and alien #

As you received RFE, most probably your FBI checks is cleared. Normally adjucators do not touch file before FBI clearence. The problem is that USCIS (actually DHS) has its own namecheck which is kind of mess (remember, senator Ted Kennedy was no-fly list...or British singer Cat Stevens was sent back).
 
Some people say that I can open an inquiry with the USCIS does anybody suggest how to do that as I have already called the 1-800 number like 10 times and they don't give any more information than what is at the website
Any directions...
