30 day Grace Period

My J2 visa expires on 30th Nov. I want to know whether I have a 30 day grace period on my j2 visa or I have to apply for the extension of my J2 visa for a month. I am planning to leave the country in the second week of December. Please advise as I need to plan accordingly!!!!!

look at the stamp in your I94, if it says D/S, it means duration of stay, then you can extend 30 days but if its tells you an exact date, then you must go home on the day it tells you.

My I-94 says d/s. And my d/s form says last day as 30th Novemeber.
So, in this case, do I have to leave on the day mentioned on the d/s form or I get 30 day grace period by default.I want to avoid asking for a one month extension.

as long as you have D/S stamped, then you have an allowable 30 day grace period. Only if you have no D/S stamped are you required to go home on the date specified...

you dont need to file an extension...
