3 year or 5 year?

I am eligible to apply for USC in Oct 09 and my wife is eligible in May 2010.

Assuming that my citizenship gets approved in early 2010 (say Jan/Feb), should my wife wait until May 2010 (5 year - 90 days) or we can use the 3 year rule (married to USC) and apply immediately after I become USC? This is assuming that my USC will get approved in 4-5 months time frame (Atlanta DO).

We have been married for 6 years.
 
The 3 year rule is staying married to US citizen for 3 years. In your case the 3 year clock will START the day you become a citizen. Your wife should apply at her 5 year GC eligibility.
