Rahul, JoeF & other N400 Gurus, I have a question about address change within the same DO after filing N400 and how it could effect/delay my process.
-- I live currently at Address "A".
-- I have been living in US for 9 yrs & been an EB-2 based GC holder for 3.5 yrs now (pre-marriage). I am due to apply for N-400 in 2 weeks based on 3 year marriage to a USC - 90 days rule.
-- After my fingerprinting is done, I need to travel back to India for 12-16 weeks for some personal/family work. (I will definitely take care that I do not extend stay beyond 6 mos in any case!). I will be taking an unpaid leave of absence from my work, thus maintaining my employer. During this time I will be vacating my apartment and making a change of address to a friends apt Address "B" so I do not miss any mails while I am away.
-- If everything goes well (and if my Newark-NJ DO keeps up the timing = High hopes ??) upon return I will stay with my friend and give the interview/oath as a resident (roommate) from his address. My wife and kids will still be in India though with parents.
------------------------------------------------------------------- ADDRESS QUESTION ------------------------------------------------------------
Now since N400 provides for a mailing address in addition to home address, Should I
-1. Put my friend's Address "B" as the mailing address on the application so for purposes of INS communications I will always get my mail there. So later in June/July if I just file my AR11 and call the VSC to make a change, it does not impact my mailing/USCIS letters in any way...
OR
-2. Put my office Address "C" as mailing address & rest everything is same as #1 above. (I don't think this should matter but, I work in New York City & this is under a different DO.)
---------------------------------------------------------------- TAX TRANSCRIPT QUESTION -----------------------------------------------------
Also if I do not get my tax return processed by the due date of filing, what other documents should I include? Is a tax transcript of the last 2 years + e-filing copy of this years return sufficient?
Or
Can I just include copies of credit card bills /bank statements instead + child's birth certificate and passport copies?? Does anybody have prior experience with this???
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kindly shed light on any experience/judgment that you might have on these issues. Also if there are any foreseeable problems with my approach please advice. Needless to say I want to take the best no hassle path possible.
Thanks in advance for all your help!
