2nd Interview situation

We had our first interview att he beginning of March. The interviewer said everything was fine except that he had to call somewhere and verify the original visa number since it was no longer "in the system". He called while we were there, but the office for that was closed to to bad weather back East. He said he would call the next day, but that was just a formality and he expected no issues. He said that was the only reason he couldn't give us an answer that day. He said if we don't here from them in 30 days, we are to call back and inquire about the situation.

I called back in a month, and the person I talked to said that she had to send the San Francisco office an e-mail asking for an update on our case. She said we should hear something in another 30-45 days. 45 days would have been around next week, June 29 or so.

Back to the beginning....now we get a to return for another interview. Perhaps this is not an unusual situation, but I can't imagine why we would be called back when we had essentially been approved. And, they want us to bring the same things we brought before.....documents, photos, etc. Interesting note, the letter was addressed to me, everything else has been sent in my wife's name.

Any thoughts?

I don't know why you were called for a 2nd interview, but if the officer told you that he can't give you an answer that day, then you were not approved.

This is the puzzle. The interviewer said everything was great with the documents, photo's, etc. The hang up was that the original visa was to old to be in the local system. A quick call back East, which he attempted in our presence, would solve that "minor issue". Seems odd I think :)

I hope the letter for the 2nd interview doesn' say STOKES on it. If not I wouldn't worry much, but would take all docs (may be they forgot to fill something, or officer wasn't authorized, or whatever - sometime CIS is a REAL mess).

Not to be skeptical my brother, and inject negativity but........ Isn't it possible that the minor issue argument by the officer was a diversion? Maybe there is a bigger issue that they'd bring up later. Who knows? Why would they lie??

We finally had out second interview. They took us about 15 minutes early, always good :) The interviewer said that we were called back because we didn't supply enough evidence of a valid marriage. The usual stuff ( I suppose) happened. We took an oath to tell the truth and we were informed that the interviews were going to be recorded, and that we would be split up and interviewed seperately.

I was first; the interviewer asked me a lot of questions, nothing personal really, juts thing like what we did last weekend, what I did after work yesterday, hobbies, favorite TV shows, what did we do for our last anniversary, etc. No tricks :) My interview was about 45 minutes.

My wife was up next, and she was in the office for about 30-35 minutes. I was called back in to clear up a couple of points by myself, that took a couple minutes. Then, my wife was called back in to the office. The interviewer verified that all the other documents were in order, and gave us that greatest of all words.... "Congratulations"!!! My wife's green card will be here in a couple weeks.

Finally finally :) The interviewer wasn't particularly friendly or unfriendly, just business like. What he did appreciate, which is probably good advice, is how organized we were with the documents, photo's, etc. We had everything, and didn't have to search through piles of paper to find anything.

Anyway, we are glad it is over. The usual advice applies I think...be prepared, tell the truth, and there is nothing to worry about.
