were out for 5 weeks with family (first tiem after getting GC) when back the POE officer said was a long vacation! and when he done with his notes he send us to secondary inspection and there after 10 minutes just passed our passes and said welcome.

Is it normal?
what is secondary inspection for?

I came back in January 2009 after 3 months work from home and vacation and the officer asked why you went for so long, and i said i took a break after getting GC. It was all done in 2 min and he said welcome back stamped passport.

My wife came back last week after 5 months and officer asked couple of questions as why she was out so long. He told her not to go so long next time.

We both didn't had any secondary inspection.
