my case was initially filed from nebraska service center. It was transfered to local office in DC. They approved the case and sent the case file to vermont service center and i got a welcome notice with EAC number. the green card also came in mail. After a few months I got a second welcome notice with LIN number. The 2nd green card also came in mail. Both the green cards have same A# but the validity dates are different. I have used the first green card that came from vermont service center to enter the country once. Now I am worried that the second green card which I have not used at all might create complications in my citizenship.

One of my friends also had the same issue but his validity dates are identical. His lawyer sugested to keep both of them because in case he informs they might cancel both of the cards by mistake.

Please advice me what should I do in my case?

Thank You,

1. You could briefly consult an immigration attorney for an opinion.
2. Keep both cards. Use the first, as it demonstrates the original date you were approved as a Permanent Resident.
3. When Citizenship time rolls around, use the date and data from the first card. In your interview, take both cards and point out (if asked) that you were sent two, but you only used the first one as evidence of Permanent Residency. (The fact that the USCIS sent you two is their mistake, not yours).

Knowing the USCIS, if you bring this to their attention you run the risk of having both invalidated.
