2nd fingerprint notice - I-485

Hello - I was interviewed with my wife for a i-485 interview in march 2013, I was fingerprinted before that. The office said that I will receive a decision soon but no response in 1 year. today I got a letter that my fingerprint card has expired and I have to take another one. does this mean that they want to approve my case now after one year or so

It happened to me as well while I was waiting for a long time for the interview letter. Fingerprints expire after 15 months.
But your case is very different. You need to make an INFOPASS appointment to see why it is still not approved yet as soon as possible. By any chance, you need to go back there and redo it.
