Hi there,

I just have a general question about me, and what I should be doing next. Recently my dad and mom both got naturalized, and because I'm under 18, i automatically become a citizen. What will I need to do next? Do I need to go to an oath ceremony like they did? When and where do I turn in my greencard?

FYI: We have applied for a passport, and I was approved (passport because a certificate of naturalization is too expensive for us)

With the US passport in hand, you have proof of US citizenship and don't need any more procedures to establish or prove your citizenship (although it is still advisable to get the certificate of citizenship, because it doesn't expire and it would make it easier to replace your passport if it's ever lost or stolen).

Keep your green card until you're ready to apply for a certificate of citizenship.

At some point in time, you should visit a Social Security office to notify them of your citizenship status so they can update your records accordingly. If your existing Social Security card has the employment restriction wording, they'll send you a new card without the restriction. You'll need to fill out form SS-5 to apply for the new card.
