Hello,
I went to Chennai(India) consulate on Feb 16th 2005. I had earlier been to US on a b1 visa and had stayed longer. My initial I-94 was for 16 weeks. It expired on Feb 10th 2004, my extension application was filed on March 1st 2004, since my HR was travelling. I returned back on May 07 2004 from US. I don't know the status of my B1 extension of whether it was apporved or not. But when i was exiting US, i didn't face any problem. What i had heard from my HR was that on submission of the B1 extension application the US consulate takes around 90 days to respond and there was no worry since on submission of my b1 extension application i get a automatic 90 day extension. Since i returned back on May 7th, within 90 days of extension i should not have any problems now. Am i correct on this ?
The VO in chennai asked me show the extension application form, however since i didn't carry that to consulate, he handed me a form 221g and asked me to submit through the TTS drop box in Bangalore as i am working in Bangalore. He has ticked only to submit, please provide proof of an INS approved extension to the consulate and the rest checked items are default items in the form-221g
1. Now what should i fill in the column " 31. Have You Ever Been Refused a U.S. Visa?" of Form DS-156
2. What are my chances of getting this visa?
3. When i submit the requested docs using drop-box, should i be submitting my offer letter, company quarterly letters, etc... docs even though they were not mentioned in the form 221g

Hi,
I would suggest you better get the status of your extension, then you will be able to surely specify whether any of your visa was rejected.
Also regarding dropping other documents, i wouldn't suggest you dropping any other documents except the 221(g) related ones.
Thanks.

Hi Jags,
Thanks for replying to my query.
I called up Chennai consulate today and lady answered the phone and she said that i need to submit all the documents, including my offer letter, etc.. all supported documentation even though its not mentioned in form 221g. I am now confused. Since i am new to these posts, are there any people who have faced this issue and what did they submit.
What about the question 31 in form DS-156, "Have You Ever Been Refused a U.S. Visa?", should i be saying No here ?
Also, is there any way i can know the status of my B1 extension application online. As i cannot ask about this to my HR in my current company, since my H1 is being filed by another employer.
Regards

Got the Visa stamped

I submitted through drop-box all the documents required for the Visa again, along with my previous stay extension approval. I got the H1 visa stamped. It usually takes 2 weeks to get ur passport back, if you submit your application through drop-box.
If it has taken 6 months, i am not sure how to follow up. But u can call to the consulate and find out what's happening.
