I'm convinced that the "random" selections don't cater to anyone from the small island of Saint Lucia. Does anyone know someone who has been selected recently from that island? The website said that it is eligible to apply but yet everyone who I know that has applied has not been selected. I am seriously thinking about contacting the Kentucky Consular Center about this because I think that the system is completely ignoring that island and selecting people from EU/Australia/Africa only.

Utter rubbish.

If few people enter, few get selected. In 2015 there were 906 entries (plus family) and 18 selectees including family. Totally normal. Nothing mysterious.

I'm curious - in general, how many of the people you know who enter lotteries once a year win? It seems such an odd statement to me. Normally, I expect people to not win lotteries, and am surprised I know people who do.

I know quite a few people who have applied for this lottery from my island and they have not been selected. This is my third year applying, and again NOT SELECTED. I also assisted in helping 3 other people apply, all were not selected. But if you browse these forums the main people who are selected are from Austrlia/EU or Africa as I stated before. It just seems odd to me. Where are the stats for the Caribbean? Because I would love to see how many people from my island got selected this year.

Ok. Do you understand that the number of selectees is (roughly) in proportion to the number of entrants? Did you see the numbers britsimon posted above? They are perfectly in line percentage wise with every other region. It's no different than if 90600 people from an African country applied and they had 1800 selectees. You can't just say "look they chose more from there". Should they choose 2% from an African country but all 906 entrants from St Lucia just so the numbers "look" more fair? I'm sure you can see that would hardly make sense. Anyway the next visa bulletin should have the selectee numbers by country, and a little later they'll publish entrant numbers as well and then you can figure it out for yourself.

I didn't see it because I only got the alert when you replied, it didn't say anyone else replied.. geez.

Ok. Normally when people start threads, they read through them to see what the responses are. I dare say you'll miss out on a lot if you just wait for alerts, or if your alerts are set to only show the latest response, or whatever the reason might be. Certainly, when I post in a thread - particularly one where there only a couple of posts already - I assume anyone reading my response has seen the previous posts.
