Hope someone can help me here. I have filed n-400 based on my marriage 3 yrs ago, however I did get my GC 4 yrs ago thru employer. My interview is coming up on 6/17, I requested tax transcripts for 2005/06/07, I have filed an extension for 2008, but have not been able to complete it yet, and I am definitely collecting tax (had overpayment in 08).
Will this be a problem in the interview? Filing an extension is legal and I do not owe any taxes?

I do not owe any taxes?

Hi PD,

I would take copies of the State (if any) and Federal Extension form 4768-Personal and/or 7004-business that you filed.

As to owing any taxes that is only your statement and if the IO had a concern about Taxes, that would not count for anything. They would want to see the paper from the IRS. You still have plenty of time to file the return and take the copy with you.

If you go to one of the tax preparers that file electronically you will get a receipt showing has been lodged. That would suggest you have lodged the return at least and that a refund is due.
