I think 2005 was a good year for a Asylum generally. no backlog a lot of folks approved.
let us hope for the best in 2006, and INS will keep their promises 6 months processing time

Dear Wait:

Yes, I hope so. But once you are stuck in name checking, it will not within 6 months. Maybe 2 years. Good luck to everybody in 2006.

Wait, I agree with u 100%. So far dealing with this asylum issue for the last 15 yrs it's crystal clear to me that it has nothing to do with names/religion/race/time what so ever. It's pure luck. The perfect example of that is people from 2002 even getting their approval mails where else lot others like me with ND 2000 completed everything USCIS possibly could have asked for but still waiting !!!!!!!!!!. Who knows what's the procedure USCIS maintains ???? But It's really not fair & we poor asylees what could we possibly do anyway ? We pay them while we apply but look what we get in return as service ?? If u call USCIS no one even knows what they are doing therefore 9/10 times they will not be able to answer your question but more likely tell you something that could easily freak u out or even give u an heart attack. And if you are lucky (atleast it's good to hear positive things) they will say something that's way beyond reality. Therefore if I have any question in my mind I w'd rather ask that to other fellow asylee brothers/sisters in this forum & I have found that a whole lot more helpful than USCIS.

I wholeheartedly agree. I heard this from an immigration attorney - a lot depends on the adjudicator in charge of your case, how efficient, resposible he/she is. So, it's pretty much a lottery. If you're lucky, your case is moving along fast. If your file ends up with some lazy a*&*le - you may get stuck for years.

These people answering 1-800 phone do not know shit. Some of them are very nice, but what they have in common - they could never answer any of my questions. Their only suggestion was to contact NSC, which never responds and sucks everything in like a black hole. It's easier to get a response from aliens than from NSC.
It's really not fair & we poor asylees what could we possibly do anyway ?
Contact your congressman and as soon as you receive your GC, calculate the date when you ar eligible to apply for citizenship and do it as soon as you can - just not to deal with this agency any more. This is my plan. I understand that it is the wrong reason, but honestly no one can blame me for that. For all these years of agony, humiliation and being treated like second-class person. I'll be praying for you and all of us stuck with this beurocratic monster.

Yes I agree with you that 2005 is a good year for AS. But this year has been good for immigration in general ! AS has been so miserable in waiting for so long that any hope would electrify us.

6 months are for general AOS but I do know remember I read exact words saying this also applies to AS-based AOS cases. AS-based LPR may really need to push for their credit towards citizenship, at least seek the same benefit as refugees.

Hey morning,
You have mentioned that you have called NCS, do you have any phone number to contact those folks.
Thank you in advance.

I mentioned national 1-800 # in my message. The latest number for NSC that have and haven't used for years, cause nobody answered it anyway is 402-323-7830. Good luck! ;)

If that had been the case, I would have been eligible to apply for citizenship in May, 2004.

Dear All:

I strongly suggest folks to have a look in the same IMMIGRATIONPORTAL Forum for H1's changing of I-485 about those name checking situation, three service centers' poor souls complains, two years is common for a unlucky to be stuck in name checking. Please have a look what they are saying.

Where is the "Logic"?

Hi everybody,

Just to show that there is no "logic" in processing cases. Me, my wife and 2 sons filed the I-485 (with medical) (8/2002, did fingerprints(2004) and BIO(10/05) together. EVERYTHING since the start. Me and one of my sons received GC(12/07/05), my wife and the other son still waiting.
Does anybody have an answer ?????????????????

Hello, lucky man! At least, two people in your family have been approved - those who happened to have a responsible person in charge of their cases. As for the other two, they were out of luck, as their cases landed with some a&*&*le adjudicator, who is taking his/her sweet time and your wife and son are still waiting and which evidently happens with my application, as well.
