2 Social Security numbers. Adjust of Status?

I recently had an interview with my wife who is a citizen, the USCIS came up with another Social # in their database.

Also the funny thing is that they stated that the other social has my current address listed.

They stated, that the other number does not belong to me and asked if I had used it in the past. Maybe fraud or something? He asked if I baught one on the street of something like that.

I have no idea where this number came from and I have not used one in the past. I have worked for 4 yrs under EAD under another application and used this same valid social that I have.

Anyone had any issues like this? My attornies have never expericanced this in an interivew?

Currently I have checked everywhere including Social Sec dept and they have my current valid social and no others listed. Right now I am waiting for USCIS to get back to me regarding this and cannot adjust status.

Is there anything linking the SSN to you, other than your address? Does that other SSN have your same name and date of birth? Is the other SSN different by just one or two digits?

It is probably identity theft, or their own clerical error. You need to firmly assert your innocence.

THis is a clear case of someone having fradulently associated your identity with a different SSN. Coming form the Consumer Indistry, my immediate advice would be to pull your credit report with any of teh national repositories - go to freecreditreport.com. YOu are eligible for one free credit report a year. ONce you pull it see what SSN it is associated with. If it is fine, then you can furnish that as a proof of your identity. If not, then file a case with the cops and freeze your credit file at the bureaus. That way, it will go on record that you have detected a case of fraud against your identity.
Hope this helps.

It is useful to get a credit report anyway, but I don't know how much a credit report would help, given that this is not a case of somebody else using the OP's SSN, it is another SSN somehow being tied to the OP.

Apoproved

Thats correct, If i pull i credit report with my SSN, it will only show my credit history.
In this case its someone elses SSN, But i just recieved a notice that my I-485 is apporved in the mail. I also got a notice via email that they have requested production of my GC.

I believe nothing valid came up in their investigation, must be a database mistake. Alot of stress gone! :)
