Guys,

I am having one of those decisions i need to make before i go for a job interview.. They told me i should bring in 2 pieces of ID .. Now i dont want to give them my country's passport because they might ask where is your greencard.. Is I-94 AND A SOCIAL SECURITY a FORM OF ID ?

You can't show your I-94 as that is not proof of ID. All you need to show is Drivers license and a unrestricted social security. By law you need to show 1 id that proves that you are allowed to work in the US which would be your unrestricted social security.

The 2nd id would be that shows a picture with your name and date of birth which could be a passport, state id, or driver's license.

I know what the law says but most of the time the employers only know green card and thats all..

Shefe,

the employer is not allowed to ask you for a specific form of ID/ document. You can choose 1 document from List A, or 1 from List B AND 1 from List C. The DL falls under List B and SS Card falls under List C, so as long as your SS is unrestricted you should be fine.

based on my experienced

I bring my california ID and SSN (I dunno why, since the first day I've got my ssn, it didn't have anything on it .. besides the number. there is no such "valid only with working permit blablalblab" ..) .. and when they asked my "working permit" .. I just show the letter that state "ur asylum being grant" ... they didn't even make a copy of it. they just see it. and copy my calif ID and ssn. and allow me to work.

Thank you all, i will let you know what happens on monday i scheduled to be there 12:00pm est time

Job Inteview Update

Just like i suspected regardless of what the law says she first asked where are your 2 forms of ID and i gave her my Drivers license and Social Security card and then she made copies and called me into the office. She was about starting the interview and she kept on looking at my name and she asked are you a US Citizen and i immediately responded by saying NO and she asked do you have a Green card and can i see it and I responded by saying no i dont but i am allowed to work in the US and she said how is that possible without your green card or your employment authorization card and immediately remembered that my Asylum Approval paper states that i am allowed to work and i gave her both my asylum approval letter and I-94. after reading the damn 3 pages, she then said to me ok but i dont know much about asylum, please let us proceed to the intial interview.

Who are you applying with? General Fools? Just kidding...:} She was definitely violating the discrimination laws clearly stated on I-9 form, probably out of lack of experience. Hope the rest of the interview went well and you got the job.
