In 2001 and 2002 I was arrested (detained in jail for 24 hours, that's a norm for any DV charge) and charged with 2 domestic violences 4th degree (a misdemeanor). Both charges were dismissed in the court.

I am about to apply for naturalization soon. Any one knows the impact of these 2 instances on the application?

Thanks Joe!

I will submit the application next week.

Don't forget to send copies of Court Disposition(s) stating that the case was dismissed. Check N-400 for information on what to attach.

When it's time for the interview, make sure you take Court certified Court dispositions. The Interv. officers make sure to check that !

The arrest and court records are sealed. But I keep court-certified copy of court records that were given to me at the time i requested the expungement. These records show when I was arrested, what the charges were, and the dispositions.

I will send copies of these "court-certified" records to USCIS with N-400, and bring the original to the interviewer.

Thank you all for all the helpful information.
