Afternoon, Im fixin to send in my N400. My Green card expired 2008 and I forgot all about it. I got a misdemeanor summons on 1995 for shoplifting about $50 as I was young and stupid. I attended a class and paid a fee and charges were dismissed, and the arrest expunged. I got a background check last week on myself and it was clear. I think I can use the 'petty offense' exception but im nervous as hell about sending int he N400. I have no record and no convictions, and the law i broke falls within the 'petty offense' thing, but still. Cant help but be nervous. Someone said that an expired green card also counts as a crime of Moral Turpitude. Can that be right? Does anyone else have experience getting citizenship with an arrest (but no conviction) thats so old? Over 20 years now.
