...180-days rule applied?

It\'s been over three month since I\'ve got my RD.
I\'m very close to completion of a project for my company\'s client.
With current job market I don\'t have any confidence that they can find another position for me anytime soon.
I wonder if I take 3 month leave of abcense (OKed by my employer) and find another job afterward with another company, can I still qualify for 180-day rule

Somebody told me that INS is doing random screening of the applications by inquiring the petitioning employers if an applicant on their payroll...?
