180 days passed. Can I switch to my own business in same category?

After the I-485 has been pending for 180 days, can I open my business (in the same field) and still keep the I-485 pending until the GC arrives?.

I mean can I do this legally?

Some attorney once said (www.murthy.com) that the GC is for a future job. But I say if your current I-485 has been pending for 180 days, there is no worry if you are fired/laid off because you can always have enough time to open your own business in the same field (for 500 dollars for e.g.) and work for yourself as your own employer.

Do you agree that if the 180 days have passed, then the GC is almost guaranteed unless you commit a crime or if you\'ve provided false info in the I-485 application?

There is nothing like GC is almost certain etc. INS has got full
authority on your GC. I would suggest you better be little slower than
what you think. Anyway, the economy is not racing high. You would be
better off if you wait for some more tim
