I wonder why the last guy had moved to the US, given by the tone of his, he had few (any?) good things to say about the US.

I think his view is pretty much on par with most Europeans. My view of the US is pretty much the same. Also I don't think he was that negative. I could give you a list of stuff that I do not like about America and find archaic and ridiculous but also I have a list of stuff which is super awesome and that's why I would like to live there...at least for a while.
