16 months

I just called the National Customer Service Center (800) 375-5283 and did not have to wait to get connected to an officer.

I asked him about the status and he asked me my receipt number and ND. I gave him the details and he did some calculations and said that 16 months was not up yet and that I should get my approval within 45 days.

Does he expect me to believe this?

Imagine all possible reasons in the world, all of them will come out from the mouths of IIOs. So creative in manufacturing lies and explanations.

I don't get it? What does 16 months have to do with it?

"I-485 cases are typically adjudicated in 975-999 days."

It means almost 3 years!!! 16 months? What 16 months?

Unfortunately it doesn't mean squat.

I called the 800 number as well and I was basically told that if I have access to the internet I can get the same information ... blah, blah blah.
The lady I talked to also mentioned the 16 months and when I told her that's way past due in my case she pulled back and said she had no further information to provide me.

One more thing. She asked me if I moved and when I said yes she replied saying that's one reason why cases take significantly longer. I assume it takes at least a doctorate degree to change all of those addresses

... and then I think of that standardized high-school graduation test in Florida where 3/4 of students failed the test - no wonder immigrants are not welcome anymore, they would potentially raise the average intelligence and that's not welcome either. They'll do whatever it takes to preserve the current "intelligence levels" which makes perfect sense on one account: when people get smarter, like the average H1B after s/he breaks into this society for couple years, they start questioning and the big guys don't like that. They prefer the typical submissive Latino (or Asian, or whatever) daily-worker that raises no concerns ... he's just happy with whatever the society feeds their way. However, compared to the typical 500lb ignorant "true American" at least these Latinos are hard working and motivated enough to add some value to this society.

I got frustrated and told her [politely I may add] that it's a complete waste of my time, her time and taxpayers money to have such a system in place that is specifically designed to provide no useful information. She was a little obfuscated ... "Thank you for calling [I guess she'd be bored to death if I hadn't], and have a good day."

I'm beyond disappointment ...

you know we all empathize with your situation, since we all are in the same soup.

maybe the officers cannot speed up your case, but there is no telling if they can't slow it down. it is better for you not to be too hard on the operators, after all it is the system that is screwing us.

good luck...

Yup, matina you need to dial it down a bit while talking to an IIO. Remember all the cards are their hands, I wouldn't put it past them to bugger around with your GC.

But that being said, thanks for giving them a piece of your mind. I am frustrated enough right now to do pretty much the same!

Matina ..

Hmm .. crazy ..

Changing your address delays the processing .. Sometime back we were discussing that Changing-addresses causes since they pickup the file to update the address and approve the cases while they are at it ..

Change address => more delay ???

Eventually
