140,485 and marriage

Hi,
I got my I-140 approval on Jul 02 2004.
Applied on substitution labor, 2 more yrs of H1 remaining.
ND:Aug 04 2003
AD:Jul 02 2004
Now i am about to apply for my I-485.
I am still single.
Can i apply for my I485 and later add my spouse when i get married.
.. ie before 485 is approved.IS it possible to do so.
Have anyone seen such a case.

Please help and advise accordingly.

You can do that. You should be married before the approval of I-485. If you bring your wife here to US on H4 before the approval she will able to apply I-485. If she is not here then you will to use a process called follow to join which will take any where between four months to one year.

If the marriage is done after the date of your GC approval it will go to Family based category, which will take more, then 5 years.

You can apply now and get married ASAP.
