The Receive Day of my I-485 is September 18, 2001. According to simple calculation today is my 1000 days anniversary!

Is there anybody else waiting for AOS for such long time ?

Only 30 days behind.

Also I heard from my Lawyer that they will transfer my case......what a pain.

Khan_bacha,YLB2,
Just out of curiosity- what is potentially different about your cases in 'your' opinion- that perhaps maybe holding your cases- background/job/any INS violations in past etc? :confused: {We know the BCIS arbitariness/files lost under a pile.}
Good Luck,

Your can judge it by yourself. Following are the major milestones of my ordeal:

  • Received date - 09/18/2001
  • Transferred to the Boston office - 07/31/2002
  • Interview scheduled on 01/09/2003
  • Interview re-scheduled on 04/28/2003. Congressional Representative that I am in contact with told me that this is because of USCIS was busy with the special registration.
  • Interviewed at 04/28/2003. I was told that the copy of the marriage certificate was missing from my file. There are two possible explanations why: my lawyer forgot to include it, or INS just lost it. I have one hint that it might by the lawyer: just before submitting all the documents to the lawyer company for I-485, I received the fax from them with the list of all necessary documents. One item (copy of the marriage certificate) was crossed out with the words “do not submit it, we already have it”. So I did. My guess is that the clerk who mailed the application just forgot to add it. I guess that this is the reason why my application was transferred to the local office from the first place.
  • USCIS submitted the request for FBI name check at 01/2003 (according to the Congressional Representative inquiry)
  • Because of no reply, USCIS re-submitted the request for name check at 09/2003 (the same source of information)
  • FBI name check finished at 05/2004 right after my telephone and fax inquiries about the status. I received a call from the FBI that they “just finished my name check”. I suspect that the inquiries did trigger it.
  • 1000 days anniversary - 06/14/2004.

Best,

YLB2,
Thanks much for sharing. :)
So there were some unfortunate incidents- marraige cert missing and prolonged name verification. I don't know what causes the name check issues (maybe your name resembles 'someone').
But your file was not exactly gathering dust all the time- that is the worst nightmare.
Since your name check was recent- hopefully you will be spared a FP2(if not already done). You should be on your way.
Best of luck to you and also to everyone else. :D

I just received the approval letters for myself and all members of my family :)
Today (06/15/2005) is exactly 1001 day since our RD (09/18/2001)!

The approval date is 06/09/2004, so it actually took a little bit less (995 days).
