Here's a link to a Washington Post story detailing problems with USCIS systems.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/03/AR2007010301618.html

"Many legal immigrants already face years-long waits when they apply for green cards, often a first step toward obtaining citizenship.Another 100,000 names submitted to the FBI for background checks have been on hold for a year or more. Congressional auditors recently reported that 14 immigration offices had lost track of 111,000 files as of July."

Sad...sad....

GC,

If we can spend $8 billions a day in Iraq, but can't afford to spend $72 million in our govt agency, then we are in a very very bad shape.... I am yet to find out why USCIS doesn't hire more people, to finalize all backlogged cases. The same goes for the FBI, can't they afford to bring more officers into their name check program to clear people whose name check has been stuck there for year?

Forgiving all illegals immigrants and sending them to USCIS for processing is going to make a mess out of this already terrible immigration agency. I can't see how they are going to process 12 million people, if annuallythe fail to process over 1 millions applications for naturalization....
