Jim, I have been an F-1 student for six year and almost 4 years as H1-B and my labor is about to be filed in CA, If everything goes well I will barely make it to 1-485 if not I may have to go back after all this years of struggle. Is there a way to get a green card besides this route? Since I stayed so long. What is registry?
Thank you

Yeah there is a quick and easy way........

Marry a citizen or someone who is in the last stages of GC. :)

Good luck....

10 Years in US

I hope there is a way for people like you to get GC.
In countries like Canada, preference is given to people
who have been satying there for quite some time and also
for people who obtained a degree from Canada. I know this
reply of mine does not give any answer to your posting.
But felt like sending this message after seeing some funny
or awkward replies. I am sure you will find your way soon.
Cheers!

Dont Worry

I dont think you need to go back.
With the new laws, you can stay on in the US once your I-140 is applied. And I am sure that will not take 2 yrs !!

Where is the beef ?

If your labor/I-140 is pending for more than 365 days you will get an extension for a year...

Why worry ? :)

Cheers

I dont think so...

In order to have the 7th year of H-1B, one has to have CLEARED Labor,
and filed for 140. I dont think its possible to get the 7th year without the Labor clearance. This is what i heard from my lawyer.

So try to get the Labor cleared before your 6 years are over.

As I heard - should not be problem.

If labour is cleared and filed for 140 you can extend H1b. Else there are ways you can file for your GC also. Check with your attorney. In you case there should not be problem as long as the lc is cleared with in your six year expiration.
