10:00am stamping at SAN JOSE ?

get the appointment

Get the appointment through your lawyer. This way, you don't have to
wake up before dawn and wait 5+ hours wondering why becoming
a permanent resident has to be handled in this inhumane way.
You can go there at 2PM and get the stamp on your passport before
3PM if you have an appointment. And it is cheap. Just 10 dollars.

In an unfornate case like your lawyer has no idea about the appointment,
which doesn't seem to be so unusual because this appointment system
is a very new thing and not every lawyer knows about it, you then have
to get up and get there very early. 7 at the latest.

Good luck.

Problem with going through the lawyer is the difficulty in getting a date in the near future. Apparently only AILA representatives can make appointments using Infopass. And the way you get in touch with them is by contacting your lawyer, and sending them your money. They in turn will forward it to the lawyer who can make the appointment, and only then will you get the letter. It is a process that takes upto 2 weeks. Not to say the appointment you get will be a week or so later.

I would put that down to a waste of time unless it becomes more efficient. The best way is to stand in line and get it stamped the day after you get your approval notice. I think going by 6:00 am is good enough. I went at 5:00 am to SJC, and was out by 8:45 am. The only problem is the wait outside. Once you get in, it is really fast.

In Los Angeles District..., InfoPass appointment is mandatory for Passport Stampping.
As on today...., one gets an appointment only after 15 days. In future this period may increase to a month or more.... since..., the number of appointments is limited.

If USCIS clears backlog by approving..., one has to still wait for stampping...
good luck guys...
As on today, our D day is Aug 30.

140, just curious. Were there families with kids too that early ?

mango_pickle,

If your spouse can drive, the best thing is you go first and they join at 7am in the line. That works.
