When filing for I-485 what kind of proof is required to show that you have fulfilled the 1 year stay in the US after the approval of asylum.

Thanks

Ed

NO proof. IF they dont believe you they will ask for proof. Things such as a lease agreement or a mortgage payment checks..utility bills..

One rule...Do not send USCIS anything they dont ask for. ONLY send them things they ask for.

I recall that we just sent them a typed written statement saying that we have not left the country since asylum was granted.

eddie_420,

I recommend you send in a single piece of evidence that proves your one year residency. What are some examples? College/school transcripts that cover a broad range of time, employment reference letter indicating when you were hired would cover a broad range of time, and a lease which indicates that date you inhabited the premises.

Although I don't agree with the statement "Do not send USCIS anything they didn't ask for;" I do agree with the idea of not sending too much evidence. So just attach one document establishing proof and you should be good to go. For my application, I attached my college transcript.

Hope this helps.
