Applied at Buffalo Immig. office,
Not able to get any information about any progress and even from e-client.
Sent Change of Address fax but received no reply that it has been changed in reords or not. Also couple of other faxes to get status info. but no response.

Currently on H1b- which will expire in next 1 year. May get lay off from the employer in US soon, thus may require to leave US.
As per trend these days, Canadian immigration putting more breaks by stoping to do medicals for 6 months after the initial assesment.

Thus looking at all, what is the best bet.
- Go back to my country and forget about that I thought of something.

- Transfer my file to my country. But what will happen to the one year
of waiting, will this go in waste, as I might have to start all over again
from the begining at the counsulate at my country.
(I dont know what happens in the case of transfer)

- Let the case carry on and change address to my friends's address in
US for all correspondence and let the case carry on. Under this
situation, Can the medicals / interview happen at my country.

Thanks in advance,

PRAD

No, why should you forget it. Dont give up because of the delay.

Definetly looks like a good option if you have to leave USA because of layoff.

this looks like the best option. You can give your frinds address and still do medical in India (or wherever you are). But I dont think you can do interview there. For that you will have to make the trip to USA. There are always 50-50 chances of interview being vaiwed.

My mother applied in Buffalo, did her medical in Canada, but had to leave after one year. then her medical expired, so she did it in UAE where she is at this time. Her address is still my address in Canada.

SOmebody else have something to contribute.

My situation is similiar to Pkapur's if anything slightly worse as my H1 expires in March 2003 and my AOR is Dec 14th.

I intend to give a friend's address and count on the fact that the interview is waived. If however hte interview is not waived, I could get my file transferred to India.

However, what I am not comfortable with is mailing my passport to Buffolo for stamping all the way from India. As such you are not supposed to do that from India.

One other option you can think of.

I know economy are bad in Canada too, but somehow if you can get a job in Canada that provide you a temp. canadian work permit, think would be easier for you. I dont know what they call it, but they have some sort of visa like H-1b and you can work there while waiting for your PR done.

I hope it help, best of luck

That might not be easy. Consider this that many of us who are already here are finding it fdifficult to get a proper job (in our own field).
