Hello! I am new here.

I am currently working on my I-485 application. Just waiting on my I-693 form. Had the medical and everything is ok but had to go back on Friday for my MMR. Now here are my questions:

1)How long does it take for an I-485 application to be approved? Should I sent it to Charlotte(Local INS) or to Chicago? I'm from NC.

2) I am planning to come to the Philippines to visit my family there, the problem is I am on a K3 visa and it is about to expire...do I need to apply for advance parole? Does anyone know how long it takes for them to approved an advance parole application? Also, I have read on another message board that some people have had problems getting in using their advance parole..ie port officers not honoring AP documents. :(

Any info would be greatly appreciated and just want to congratulate you on a very helpful board...keep up the good work!

There should be no problem re-entering in AP. That is the entire purpose of the document. As long as there is no criminal activity or other issues (like previously overstaying a visa) that show up on the POE systems, you should be fine.

You will probably be referred to 'secondary inspection' with your AP (many of us have been), but this usually doesn't take long and the purpose of it is to verfiy to the authenticity of the documentation as there have been cases of forged APs trying to be used in the past.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info Wik! Do appreciate it a lot...how long did it take for your AP application to get approved?? Also, I read that K3 visas holder need not apply for AP...as long as they have a pending I-485 application. But as I've said...my K3 visa is due to expire very soon...hence the need for AP. Am I right? I'm sure they won't let me enter U.S. in an expired K3 visa even if I have a pending I-485 application.
