Interview is scheduled for 1:15pm. I left at 10:30am since it takes some time to get down to San Antonio from Austin even without traffic. Arrived at 11:50 and walked into the USCIS at 12:55 (spent an hour for lunch).
My name was called exactly at 1:15 and the Officer is very gentle and nice. We greeted each other then he guided me to his office. He kept telling me how easy the interview would be. He said there's no need to be nervous and he's pretty sure that I would do a good job
Nice person, isn't he?!
He first asked for my green card, driver's license, passports, and then asked me to raise my right hand to swore. After that, he started with reviewing my N-400 quickly, such as: is your name XXX? is your birth date XXX? are you living at XXX? have your every claimed yourself a U.S. citizen before? Do you file tax returns on time? etc. I am not applying based on marriage but when the interview came to my spouse's information, the Officer asked if I have filed immigration petition for my husband (he's international student), I said not yet but he still asked for our marriage certificate and made a copy, probably for future reference I guess.
When N-400 review was done, the Officer asked me to read a sentence: "What do we pay to the government?" He told me to write on the paper: "We pay taxes" (easy,uh?
). And finally it came to the civil questions. The 6 questions he asked are:
1. What is freedom of religion?
2. When must all men register for Selective Service?
3. What ocean is on the East Coast?
4. When was the Constitution written?
5. Name one state boards Canada
6. How many senators?
Answered them right and he said:"See, I told you it's easy! You did a good job, congratulations!" He then completed all the paper work together with me (I decided to change my name during the interview so a few more paper to sign) and gave me the N-652 with the decision of recommended for approval and his comment:" 100% Great Job!"
I asked him when I can expect for the oath letter, he said it would take up to 120 days but he thinks I should get it much sooner. I thanked him and left the office with a big smile. It was 1:40pm and the entire process took only 25 mintues.
